Fradley Junction to Whittington

Fradley Junction to Whittington : 5 miles, 0 locks
To date : 161 miles, 111 locks, 20 lift bridges, 7 tunnels, 7 aqueducts

Today we cruised on following nb Winton's Folly.  The goal for today was Whittington where Carol would be re-joining the boat after a long weekend away.  There were no locks so I continued on with my work for the first part of the journey.

Mick decided he wanted to stop at Streethay Wharf to check out the chandlery there.  The moorings were pretty full so Barry took the spot in front of the office and we just tied up beside him.  We could see nb Helene, belonging to Bob and Karen who we met yesterday, tied up awaiting engine repairs.  Best of luck guys.  The chandlery stocked spare glass for the front of our solid fuel stove so Mick bought one just in case we have an incident like nb Caxton did just a couple of weeks ago.  He also found some black paint for below the gunwales

We were a little upset to be forced into some overhanging trees by a passing boat.  A sharp branch scraped along the side of the boat removing paint!  Nothing we can do about it but we weren't happy.

Along the way I made a cup of coffee and took it up to Mick while he steered.  Barry was in front and he was veering his stern extremely close to the bank.  I wondered what had happened but then spied Bracken standing on the towpath.  She'd jumped off at a bridge!

We arrived at Whittington and went for a walk through the village and to stock up at the Co-Op. The village is lovely with such beautiful houses.  Carol arrived back later in the afternoon and this evening we've been treated to a lovely sunset.

In the drink to date : Elly - phone charger (retrieved - it floated!), Mick - sunglasses, Mick - hearth brush, Mick - mooring hook (retrieved with sea searcher), Mick - reading glasses, Mick - drill bit (retrieved with sea searcher), Mick - ash bucket, Mick - dishbrush, Mick - colander (retrieved - it floated), Mick - reading glasses (another pair)
